Author's note: The first chapter serves as the substructure, the
point of departure for each of the five following stories. To
avoid confusion I recommend reading the first chapter again with
each alternative.

So Jack loves Nina. That’s the basic assumption in this fic.
One might argue that’s what makes it AU, but who knows if
Jack really went back to Teri because he loved her or because he
thought it was best for his family. Maybe it’s more a
question of interpretation, and there’s been written enough
based on Jack loving Teri anyway, including some of my own work.
It was time to explore the idea of Jack giving Nina up for the
sake of his family.
As for the AU-part – it’s basically up to you. Is Nina
still a traitor? Will she still sell out? Is Jack really staying
with her (as suggested in some of the stories) or going to go
back to his family later on anyway? Is the planned trip ‘the’
weekend in Santa Barbara or is Jack grinning because he’s
suggesting they should go there again? Feel free to discuss your
answers because I’m not entirely sure myself.
